Accessibility statement
Draft for legal and operational review. Not approved for public launch.
We want every child, parent, teacher and family member to be able to use Teddy’s Future Lab, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, switch access or reduced motion. This page describes what has been checked so far, what we know is not yet good enough, and how to tell us about a problem. It is not a certificate of conformance with any accessibility standard.
What has been checked
- Names for controls. An automated check in a real Chromium browser opens every public page signed out, and every screen of the app as a test owner, a test parent and a test child profile, at phone width. It reads the name the browser gives each visible button, text box, menu and switch, and fails if a control has no name, only a symbol for a name, or only placeholder text.
- Pictured buttons. Illustrated buttons on the entrance, sign-in and account-help pages are real buttons and links with written names, keyboard focus and a visible focus outline.
- Colour contrast and themes. Automated checks compare text and background colours in the light, dark and high-contrast themes.
- Motion. Animations are switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Small screens. Pages are checked at phone width for content that runs off the side of the screen.
Known limits
- The app has not yet been tested by people using screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack or NVDA. Automated checks cannot find every problem.
- Windows that open only after a button is pressed (for example some forms and confirmations) are not all covered by the automated check yet.
- Some games, drawing tools, 3D avatars and the shared whiteboard are visual and work best with a pointer or touch. They may be difficult or impossible to use with a keyboard or screen reader alone.
- Videos and spoken avatar voices may not have captions or transcripts.
- Some decorative artwork contains words that are also given as text nearby; if you find artwork whose words are not available as text, please tell us.
